MOT test

All cars in the United Kingdom need to be roadworthy to be safe on our roads here in Great Britain and the government goes to various lengths to make that happen. The MOT test is a mandatory test that all cars over 3 years old must take in order to be able to hold road tax and legal car insurance. Thankfully, your local mechanic knows all about it and is able to get your vehicle ready for the test. He will check everything on the car to make sure that it is functional.

If you want your car to pass its MOT test in Hamilton then there are a number of things that your mechanic has to check and fix beforehand and here is a short list of some of those.

  1. The brakes are one of the most important parts of the car and these need to be checked thoroughly. The pads, the discs and the brake cables underneath all need to be in great shape.
  2. All lights on your vehicle need to be working and your mechanic will check that all are functional. It is always a good idea to keep some extra bulbs in case one happens to go out on the day of the test.
  3. The emissions test is very strict and so your car needs to have the oil and filters changed and the car’s engine tuned to cut down on dangerous emissions.

With some luck and great mechanical knowledge, your car will fly through the test and you will be back driving again in no time.
