Made in 1956. First move ever made by Elvis Presley. Intense drama about history of a farm boy who stayed behind while his three brothers fought the Civil War. Directed by Robert Webb.
4. Ben Hur
Made in 1959. Main role played by Charlton Heston. American epic portraying a wealthy merchant in Jerusalem. This top 10 movie has a religious tint to it as it is focused on the life of Jesus. The film has won 11 Academy Awards.
5. The Diary of Ann Frank
Made in 1959. The plot is focused on the lives of two Jewish families hiding from the Nazis, during the World War II, in Amsterdam. This top ten movie is based on a true story, written by a young Jewish girl, who unfortunately did not survive the war.
6. Planet of the Apes
Made in 1968. Fantasy feature placed in futuristic times. A team of astronauts lands on a planet where dignified apes rule with the iron fist, and humans are mute and treated as animals. Main plot addresses the shift in evolution based on regression of human population. Charlton Heston plays the main character.
7. Two Mules for Sister Sara
Made in 1970. Clint Eastwood and Shirley McClain star. A yarn about a nun and a mercenary developing a close friendship, and understanding of each, other during a grueling journey through the desert.
8. Play Misty for Me
Made in 1971. Clint Eastwood plays a disk jockey whose most devoted fan is psychotic. This top 10 thriller paved the way for future stalker movies and was instrumental in shedding more light on the poorly understood subject of personality disorder.
9. American Graffiti
Made in 1973. A comedy drama presenting the life of a teenage boy in 1962 California. Brilliant actors, such as Richard Dreyfuss and Ron Howard, play the main characters and portray a clear view of the decade through humor and varsity of problems addressed in this top 10 epic.
10. Titanic
Made in 1997. Top 10 featured based on a real story, but fictionalized to fit the inspiration of a romantic drama. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are the main characters from tragically different spheres of society, who fell in love during the sea voyage to America. Their love affair ends when the Titanic is shipwrecked and it is ultimately sunken. This top then film was nominated for 14 Academy Awards and won 11 of them.
